This is the last time the graduating class will sing the school song together with the rest of the school. The latter two are usually printed in the program. The first song is Japan's national anthem, followed by the city song and the school song.
Singing has a large part in the Japanese schools curriculum and is also a big part of graduation. 1st-prepare, 2nd-bow, 3rd-return upright. This is coordinated by playing three chords on the piano. The head of ceremonies asks everyone to stand and bow towards the Japanese flag. The homeroom teacher then joins the rest of the teachers. The students line up next to their chairs and wait for the home room teacher to signal and they all sit at once. They walk in straight lines and make 90 degree turns if turning is necessary. When the graduates enter, they are led by their homeroom teachers. The teachers all stand and bow to them as they enter. The vice principal leads in the local officials and special guests. Underclassmen, parents, and teachers are seated first. They will have a procession of the academic staff and graduands, a valediction and then they are handed the certificates by the chief guest. The students usually get dressed up in a formal attire, wear a form of academic dress - usually a gown that is worn open in the front, sometimes accompanied by a square hat. At the universities and institutes, the graduation ceremonies are formal affairs, which include an academic procession by both the academic heads and the students. Chase those new horizons, shoot for the stars, believe in yourself, and live your dreams. Are you thinking? Every one of those teachers believe that you have what it takes to do whatever you want in life. I want you to think back to every teacher at St. The very last sentence of this poem is "Believe in yourself!" I hope you will chase your dreams and goals. Charles, you will have new horizons to pursue.

I feel that we have prepared you all to take control of your life. This last section almost give s me shiver down my spine when I read it. Did you meet those challenges, head on? Are you prepared to face those challenges that are coming down the road? When you face that challenge are you going to jump off the road and let life pass you by, or are you going to meet that challenge? There are few guarantees in life, but one guarantee every parent, teacher, adult will guarantee, is you will be met with a challenge and I believe you all have been given the skill to meet any challenge. Charles, and the many life challenges you will face for the rest of your life. This second section makes me think of the life challenges you have faced in your years at St. Think back to the many goals you have set for yourselves, did you accomplish them? If not, are you on the way to accomplishing them? What obstacles have you overcome? Charles: sports teams, lots of homework, higher standards. This first section reminds me of the many obstacles you have overcome in the many years you have been at St. If you aren't willing to work for your goals, But that too is relative to each individualĮxcuses are for losers!
